Copy on Android and paste on Windows, or the other way round. This page shows how to share the clipboard between an Android phone and a Windows PC.
Is Microsoft Phone Link enough for you?
Windows Phone Link has cross-device copy and paste, but Microsoft Support lists only certain devices for it: Samsung (One UI 2.1 or later) and some HONOR, OPPO, ASUS, vivo and Xiaomi models (as of October 2026). On other phones — a Pixel, for example, or any model not on the list — the feature isn't available.
If your phone isn't on the list, or you'd rather keep everything inside your own Wi‑Fi, here is another way.
Using AirBoard
AirBoard moves copied text, photos and files directly between devices on the same Wi‑Fi (LAN). It works on any Android phone, with no account.
Setup (once)
- Install AirBoard on Windows from the Microsoft Store and on Android from Google Play.
- Put both on the same Wi‑Fi.
- On Android, tap Find on Wi‑Fi or scan the QR code, and pick your PC. Approve the new device on Windows the first time.
Copy on Windows → paste on Android
Just copy on Windows (Ctrl+C) and it lands on the Android clipboard. With Keep connection in background on (it is by default), it arrives even when AirBoard isn't open.
Copy on Android → paste on Windows
Copy on Android, then open AirBoard. Your latest copy goes to the Windows clipboard. (From Android 10, apps in the background can't read the clipboard, so AirBoard sends it when you open it.) You can also use Current clipboard on the Share tab.
You can share text or files into AirBoard from another app's Share menu. Text goes into the input box and files into the waiting list, so you can check before sending.
Photos and files too
- Android → Windows: pick from Photos or Files on the Share tab and they're sent right away. On Windows they land in an AirBoard folder inside Documents (you can change the folder).
- Windows → Android: drop files onto the AirBoard window. On Android they appear in an AirBoard folder inside Downloads.
Nothing arriving? Check battery optimization. Some phones stop apps from running in the background to save battery. Turn off battery optimization for AirBoard in Android settings, or open AirBoard before you copy.
No PC needed
An Android phone can be AirBoard's Hub, so Android and iPhone can share copies and photos without a PC (Settings › PC-less mode (Smartphone Hub), on by default).
Not connecting?
Office, school and hotel Wi‑Fi often blocks devices from talking to each other. See how to connect through a hotspot.
